DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND MITIGATION programme essentially aims to contribute towards the social and economic development goals of the national government and enabling state governments to minimize the losses of development gains from disasters and reduce vulnerability. It will demonstrate a sustainable model for mainstreaming of disaster risk management at all levels with focus on district and community level activities, based on which the government of India would replicate the approach and process in the remaining hazard prone districts in the country. The vital output of this project is multi-hazard risk management and sustainable recovery plans at community, Panchayati and other administrative levels

Strategies

•    Formulation of plan, Formation of community Task force and tapping the youth resources those are available in the communities. Training/ capacity building of taskforce and committees ,Promoting community grain banks, Preparing IEC materials, Using Information Technology enabled system, Integrating the DRM as part of Development works (Linking relief and Rehab to development),Promoting green environment
